Six Word Saturday

surprised at how far I've come

I was going through my first attempt at journalling from back in 2007. I was actually really shocked at what I saw. All the bad decisions I was making at the time, the way I thought back then, how little I thought of myself, it was pretty surprising. It was also a relief. Sometimes, I look back and wonder how I could've stayed in bad situations so long and how I could've been so blind. Now, I remember, I wasn't blind. I could see how bad things were and that I was making bad decisions and that I was making these decisions because I thought so little of myself. I just hadn't yet figured out how to navigate my lack of self-worth. It was the perfect reminder that I need to give myself more credit and that even though I'm struggling trying to get settled here, I have really come a long way from who I was.

  1. I am so glad you are in a better place...and that you have come so far since you first started blogging! I feel that all of life is a learning process...as I am still learning and growing at age 63! (:>)

I like the peaceful look and feel of your blog!

    Happy Saturday!

    1. Thank you very much! It's the learning and growing that keeps us alive (figuratively of course). I hope to never stop.

    1. It'd be nice if we could learn before making the mistake though wouldn't it. Haha, if only.

  4. This touches a chord because my daughter is cursed with the same struggles, and if you've seen her on my blog you really wouldn't know how or why. Life's hard sometimes. Glad you're making headway. :)

    1. Thank you. Everyone has a reason for their inner struggles and sometimes figuring out that reason is a huge struggle in and of itself. I am fortunate that I have some clarity on my reasons which has helped me move forward.

  5. Love it! I do like how writing allows us to look back at where we were as people at certain points. And it is nice when that shows progress!

    1. Yes. Usually I write to release and sort things out. Then I rarely look at it again. Its important to look back sometimes to see how you've grown.
